Insights from "Hack Your Gut Health!“

The latest on Netflix

Hello lovely 🥰

Have you caught the latest on Netflix, "Hack Your Gut Health"?

It's a fascinating 1 part series that digs deep into the complex world of our microbiomes. Featured in the show is Giulia Enders, the author of the influential book "Gut," which I loved reading when it first came out. It’s exciting to see new research aligning with her insights, especially how our gut health is intricately linked to our mental health.

What Makes a Microbiome Healthy?

I like Guila’s analysis about a healthy microbiome being like a thriving forest, filled with diversity and balance. It benefits from the right light and nutrients. A key nutrient for a balanced gut that I learnt more about? Dietary fibre. Despite needing about 28-40 grams of fibre daily, the average American diet falls short at just 15 grams per day.

Why Fibre Matters in Your Child's Diet?

Fibre's role extends beyond adult health; it’s important for toddlers too, particularly for preventing constipation. Constipation is a common issue and it can significantly affect your toddler's sleep quality. That is why ensuring your child gets enough fibre helps them avoid discomfort and can lead to better sleep (night time and naps).

Our go to Recipe for Gut Health:

Here’s a fibre-rich overnight oats recipe that I also shared on my Instagram stories yesterday, that’s not just nutritious but also delicious, perfect for supporting your toddler’s gut health:

- Greek Yoghurt - also High in protein

- Oats- A fantastic source of fibre

- Chia Seeds - Superb for fibre; a small addition makes a big impact

- Almond Milk - Smooth and dairy-free

- Raisins - Adds sweetness and fibre

Chia seeds, are a standout for their high fibre content, ensuring your child receives a substantial fibre boost with every bite!

Take Action for Better Sleep
