Hard day yesterday. Read why
What I am working on before bed atm
As I sit down to write this newsletter, I find myself reflecting on the journey of parenthood.
At 34 years old, with three children under 6 in my care, I've experienced the highs and lows of raising a young family.
If I’m honest with you, yesterday was a day of lows. Our live out helper, Vanessa, who joins us three days a week to help me out, has been sick so hasn’t been with us this week. Therefore domestic life has been hard. Our shipping arrived and there is stuff everywhere. Our children are home over Easter break, and having all three at home all day, is a juggle.
And we have a few other bits are going on that I won’t go into detail about now, but life feels a bit stressful nonetheless.
It's def a whirlwind of laughter, tears, and everything in between right now, but through it all, I'm grateful for the opportunity to be a mummy.
Parenting is a constant learning curve isn’t it? And each day brings its own set of challenges. From bedtime meltdowns, to tender moments of connection, I'm often reminded of the profound impact we have on our children's lives.
As parents, we believe that we play a huge role in shaping children, guiding them with love, patience, and understanding. The big nature vs nurture debate.. that is for another day! Incoming..
One aspect of parenting that often presents challenges is ensuring our children get the rest they need. And as a holistic sleep coach, I appreciate how hard it is.
Here are 3 things I am working on in my own family to promote better sleep;
Mindfulness before bed
I want to teach mindfulness to my children to help them unwind and quiet their busy minds before bedtime. Our home was a sh*t show last night (due to our shipping arriving.)The kids toys were everywhere so they were over stimulated. We also had friends over before bed time for a play date and my husband and I were busy chatting to the parents and not focussing on the kids. So last night before sleep, we practiced some deep breathing to help them wind down and ease them into bedtime. It did calm them down. And me!
Limit Screen Time
We don’t usually allow screens two hours before sleep. But last night we did, our friends were over and we wanted to chat in peace. The blue light emitted by the tv disrupted their natural rhythms before bed, note to self: do not do that again.
Natural Remedies
I want to start exploring natural remedies like lavender essential oil. Anyone tried this with any success with your older children? My husband loves a lavender pillow spray for us. lol. We have tried many! Our current one is deep pillow spray by this works. Check it out.
Ok enough from me,
it is Friday!
We have a jam packed Easter weekend planned. Stay tuned.
And hold your babies close,
Love,
