Greek Secrets for Better Sleep ๐ซถ๐ป
It Involves Protein!
Hello GORGEOUS!! โค๏ธ
Living in Cyprus offers a lovely chance for us to dive into Greek culture. For instance, the word "protein" is derived from the Greek word proteos, meaning "first place" or "of primary importance."
This is so fitting because protein is fundamental to our children's development and can affect their sleep.
Why Your Child Needs Protein in their diet?
1. Growth and Repair: It develops strong muscles and tissues.
2. Biochemical Reactions: Protein helps enzymes function, keeping your child's body in rhythm.
3. Hormone Regulation: It plays a role in producing hormones that affect growth and mood.
4. Structural Support: Protein is a component of bones, skin, and blood.
5. Fluid Balance: It helps with proper hydration and cellular function.
6. Immune Function: Proteins are needed in building a robust immune system.
7. Acid-Base Balance: Proteins regulate pH levels in the blood and other bodily fluids.
Easy Protein Boosts with a Greek Twist:
Adding more protein doesn't have to be complicated.. this is how we do it..
Greek yoghurt snacks: A bowl of Greek yogurt with a dribble of local raw honey is a quick, protein-rich treat.
Overnight oats with Greek Yoghurt in their snack boxes.
Ready Packs: Look for convenient 100% Greek yogurt packs in the dairy aisle for a nutritious snack on the go.
Swap Dessert: Serve plain, full-fat Greek yogurt instead of sugary desserts. Itโs delicious, satisfying. I was actually not the hugest Greek Yoghurt fan, I have forced myself to like it. Our kids have always loved it. I remember that at one stage when weaning our daughter, it was the only food she would eat!
Greek Yoghurt ice lollies. We have just made a batch this am. Well, we only had enough yoghurt to make one. Cue the fights after school for it. Our kids will have to share it ๐ good luck to me please ๐

May the force be with me!
