Afternoon ramblings

Hi friend 👋

Lying in my bed, while our youngest kid naps, next to my malti poo dog. So many thoughts are whirling around in my head..

“Should be doin the dishes”

“Date night tonight, what should I wear, and what to feed the kids before we head out.”

“How will our son do at his international school assessment?”

“Haven’t bought our 2 year old any bday presents yet and it’s his bday in a few days time, what shall we buy him,” (any good ideas please let me know?) he is turning 2.

But a bigger thought process that has been brewing within me lately, more sentimental and profound, is WHEN WILL THE WORRY ABOUT MY CHILDREN EVER GO AWAY?

And sadly, I am beginning to think that the answer to that question is: NEVER.

I’ll give you some examples, our 3 year old son’s tummy has not been right again after reintroducing gluten, so for the last few days I have been on a guilt trip about reintroducing it. I am worried that he is losing weight and not getting enough nutrients into his body. I sent a picture of him to my mum yesterday and she commented that he looked skinny and pale, it sent me into a SPIN.

Our 2 year old has a snotty nose, will it develop into anything more? I wonder? Please no more pneumonia. I can’t do it again.

Our daughter, who’s 6, has started talking back and sometimes I’m too lazy to correct her. I just want the easy life, but know the easy life will backfire at some point. I need to take a stricter stance, else she may think it’s okay. But how strict? I don’t have the energy.

Honestly, I feel like there is always something to worry about.

I had a long chat to a girl friend of mine last night via FaceTime. We spoke about how our parents can’t understand why we find parenthood so damn hard, they repeatedly tell us that they can’t recall it ever being this hard?!

Me and my friend both agreed that either they have either

  1. forgotten,

OR

  1. they just come from a different generation that did not place so much importance on parenting. I guess they didn’t have the constant stream of social media feeds telling them how to parent either? They didn’t read into everything like we do, they just got on with it?

Maybe we should take a leaf out of their books. Because at the end of the day, what is all the worry actually going to achieve ? Easier said than done, right?

Anyway, I haven’t written a newsletter in a while. It’s been fun to share a few of my today thoughts and worries. What’s the saying? A problem shared is a problem halved. I truly believe that.

Hold your babies close and I hope you aren’t a worry wart like me, although I know that if you are a Millenial mum, you probably are 😉

With love,

Tammy xx
